For those who haven’t been keeping track, next Tuesday (Sept. 27) is a pretty huge day for new hip-hop releases. We’re talking albums from Phonte, 9th Wonder, J. Cole, J-Live, Evidence, and Tabi Bonney. While we could justify picking up each and every record, we wanted to pose a pretty difficult question to our Facebook fans: If you had to choose just one to purchase, which would it be? Hit the skip to see who won. And the winner is… PHONTE’S CHARITY STARTS AT HOME
I wasn’t too surprised to see Phonte’s solo debut, Charity Starts at Home, beat out its competition, though I did think more people would have voted for 9th Wonder’s The Wonder Years. But that record tied for third place with J-Live’s S.P.T.A. behind Evidence’s long-awaited Cats & Dogs. Then it was J. Cole’s Cole World: The Sideline Story and Tabi Bonney’s The Summer Years, the latter of which received the big goose egg. Revisit Phonte and Elzhi’s “Not Here Anymore” below and keep on getting excited for next Tuesday. If I had to buy just one without a doubt it would be Evidence – Cats & Dogs because he has been dropping steady heat rocks for solo records and with Rakaa as Dilated Peoples. This actually happens to me alot because I purchase all my music to support the artists and sometimes need to pay the bills.
Evidence!
Cats & Dogs was my most anticipated earlier this year, but I’ve heard some good things about Phonte’s album.
i liked evidence’s album. then again i’m a huge dilated peoples fan so…
Phonte’s album has been leaked. It’s amazing.
