Seattle native and recent Sub Pop signee Porter Ray released the cinematic Fundamentals last week via his Bandcamp. He has been steadily gathering props with his BLK GLD,WHT GLD and RSE GLD releases. The projects show Porter re-telling street tales of narcotic transactions and the woes of modern-life through the eyes of a poetic “son of Seattle.” It’s got dreamy production bolstered by expertly delivered and vivid, true-to-life verses from Porter, which makes Fundamentals an audible snap-shot that holds together perfectly and will serve the artist well as his first project under the Sub Pop name. Look out for Ray’s proper album sometime in 2015.
