Sometime between the last Little Brother album and Phonte‘s solo debut Charity Starts at Home, it seems like folks kept snoozin’ on Phonte. I can’t pinpoint any concrete reasons, but his 2011 full-length was incredibly slept on. It packed a heavy dosage of lyrical wit and boom-bap production, but just didn’t grasp the audience it might have three or four years ago. With that said, Phontigallo lets loose of some visuals to go along with his album cut, “The Good Fight”. Keeping in line with one of the major themes of the LP, Phonte hammers home working class struggles and offers some words of encouragement. Charity Starts at Home is out now.
