It has felt like an eternity since Phantogram dropped their stellar debut back in 2009 called Eyelid Movies. Since that time they have popped up on the radar a few times, including an EP and an appearance on Big Boi’s lukewarm Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors. While it seemed evident they’d be making a return, it was unclear in what capacity. And it also felt like they might take a turn for the mainstream with tunes straying further into the realm of pop.
Today we finally get a look at what the duo’s new music will sound like by way of “Black Out Days”. And fortunately for the listener, they seemed to have kept their original charm intact. Of course, this song is slightly more polished than what we heard from the hip-hop-driven Eyelid Movies, it does show promise for what is to come from the Saratoga Springs, NY natives.
Stream “Black Out Days” below. No word on a new album just yet.
