East Nashville rapper Petty is officially on our radar following the release of Short But Sweet. It arrived in my inbox courtesy of the folks at Gummy Soul, who previously presented those Bizarre Tribe and Fela Soul mash-up projects. On Short But Sweet, however, we’re hearing completely original material from Petty and the Stuyvesants. The Southern MC uses the soulful productions to straight-up RAP for 16 tracks straight. Most of the cuts here are brief affairs clocking in at around 90 seconds on the average, though it closes out with a more traditional joint.
