Outasight – “Near the End” f. Freddie Gibbs

Damn, I did not expect to see these two collaborating. But after hearing “Near the End”, I am pretty damn glad they did. It’s kind of crazy how organic this pairing of completely different acts is, but hey, I can’t complain. I don’t want to say Freddie Gibbs completely steals the show either, but his verse, which arrives toward the end, is absolutely fantastic. Sure, it’s your typical shoulder-brushing bravado, but he just kills it. Outasight is no slouch, of course, as he rides the bluesy production from Table for 6 with ease. All I can say is I won’t be surprised if more than one of you blasts this during a BBQ this weekend. Hell, if you don’t, I’ll be kind of disappointed.

    Love it… as always!

  2. Frank…thanks for the reminder that taste really is subjective. Outasight doesn’t always do it for me but he sure as shit does it often enough…”Catch me if you can” / “Downtown” — but man, Freddie Gibbs seems like a case of undeniable skills to my ears. Even if you aren’t into him, like Royce, I’d think even his critics would have to admit he’s got skills off the f’ing charts.
