Prolific spitter Open Mike Eagle just posted an awesome oddity to his Soundcloud today. Memory Man’s remix of “Exiled From The Getalong Gang” finds MC Paul Barman and Mr. Eagle engaged in a decidedly adolescent squabble over girls and treehouses and all manner of unimportant things that seem of life-and-death consequence when you’re young.
The beat, a thick slab of clavinet-heavy robo-tronic funk, sputters along at a jaunty clip, and Barman’s nasal, neurotic flow is a great counterpoint to Open Mike Eagle’s smooth, laid-back delivery. The subject matter is silly but not goofy (well, actually, it’s a little goofy), a perfect match for the squishy, propulsive party-funk beat.
