Open Mike Eagle, a falsetto-breathing, overdub-specialist emcee from L.A., recently released his album Rappers Will Die of Natural Causes, leaving no joint unlit and all his haters silenced. “Bright Green Light” hits the high octaves, staying there, wafting about like the smoke that fills the frame. His crew sits in a stupor and slumbers around as Open Mike Eagle sings them all into a zombie-like state. Production by B-Bop sends the track into fun, dark environment occupied by dub warbles and synth wah-wahs. “Bright Green Light” builds slowly and it’ll have you wanting more. At only 2:25 in length, it’s a short video, but it comes with high replay value. Emphasis on “high.”
