It seems like a lot of people are split on their thoughts of Onra’s latest project, Long Distance. Some have praised its ’80s-infused grooves while others, such as our own Francisco McCurry, called the LP “half-baked boogie and lukewarm space funk.” Even though I’ve only spun the record a few times, I enjoyed every listen. Yeah, it’s in line with a lot of the post-Dilla, wonky hip-hop that’s been prevalent today, but Onra pulls it off well – just as he did on previous efforts like Chinoiseries. But hey, I guess the old adage is true: You can’t please everyone. Here we have the video for the T3-featured “The One”, which I think we can all agree is absolutely one of the album’s strongest cuts and one well worth hearing again for this video.

Love this album. The upcoming 12″ single for “The One” also features two Waajeed remixes. Definitely looking forward to that.
