Onra – “Perfect(ed) Match”

Parisian producer Onra, just a few months removed from his stellar Chinoiseries Pt. 2 LP, figured Valentine’s Day would be as good an occasion as any to unleash the dancefloor-rattling “Perfect(ed) Match,” a re-imagining of his own “Perfect Match.” With a peppy four-on-the-floor kick pattern that’s just a touch too fast to be pure disco, some killer ‘80s slap bass and a soulful male vocal sample, “Perfect(ed) Match” is definitely some sweaty, funky party music- it goes straight to the loins. You’ll be nailing dance moves you don’t know how to do (and never expected to want to). Within Onra’s canon, “Perfect(ed) Match” falls way more in line with his Long Distance LP from 2010 than the cerebral boom-bap of the Chinoiseries albums, but observations like that won’t seem very important once that kick drum starts up, anyway.
