In my junior year in college, my idea of an accomplishment was making it to class on time and, perhaps on a more productive day, taking a nap. Suffice to say, Nicolas Jaar is having quite a different college experience. A student at Brown, Jaar runs a small imprint (Clown & Sunset) and his Space Is Only Noise LP earned “Best New Music” honors from Pitchfork. Combining mid-to-down-tempo electronics with a world music aesthetic, his tunes give off a glitchy, global groove. Not bad for a 19-year-old.
