In September 2010, I got a random Facebook message from Kriswontwo, a young producer from Copenhagen, whose atmospheric debut — Directions — had prominent guest spots from Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins, among others. I still play that album to this day.
Since then, the Danish composer has recorded an EP with Brooklyn rapper Johnny Prince. Here, Kris teams up with Lesotho MC Nappion for Breaking Ice, an EP which finds the producer embracing bouncy electro-soul and pop fusion. Go here to buy the project or listen below.
