Murs and 9th Wonder, two artists that peaked around the same time five years ago, now find themselves in a pit of monotony. I can’t help but think that Murray’s Revenge was Murs last exceptional project, and 9th Wonder, whether you can admit it or not, has not put together a noteworthy album since his time with Little Brother or shortly there after. But now it is nearly 2011 and it looks like the two longtime collaborators are still going at it, this time dropping the video for their cover of Common’s “I Used To Love H.E.R.” off the Fornever album, which also happened to be quite the dud. Points of agreement:
1. 9th Wonder has been coasting on fumes since leaving Little Brother. Like you, I haven’t been impressed at all with what he’s done post-LB. Not. At. All.
2. I’m not sure that Murs does Common any justice here, but that’s probably a matter of my not quite understanding what the hype is about Murs, whom I think is average (at best).
Points of disagreement (and there’s only one):
1. The beat on this DOPE and makes me think that there still might be hope for 9th.
he actually changed a majority of the 3rd verse, to match what’s going wrong with today’s rap music, and that’s one of the reason’s why it’s a great song. the video could’ve been better. that album was their weakest collabo. the first 3 were progressively dope
My friend bought Fornever because I had told him how good the first two Murs/9th joints were. I felt terrible about it. ha
I really forgot this album dropped this year. The record was a bore and there was no promotion after the release other than Murs putting himself on the Paid Dues bill.
Yeah – more of the reason I posted this was to touch on the lack of quality the two have put out recently than to highlight this lackluster remake…
yee the album was very much a dud. the original is a a classic and to turn it into a half-assed cover is nothing short from blasphemous.

Don’t see the point with this cover, much weaker beat, didnt change a single word, very average video…
