Monster Rally – Color Sky [EP]

The whole lo-fi scene has kind of irked me since its inception, mostly because I’m just a hater sometimes and find a stupid reason to detest any kind of movement. But every so often there are some gems that emerge from this re-visited sound. And here we have one of them, again thanks to Ross (aka Datahowler). We might be a bit late in posting this — it dropped in late August — but hey, we can’t be on top of everything. My rambling aside, here we have a free digital 7″ from producer Monster Rally, who produces music akin to the lo-fi madness created by Madlib. But where it’s different is that there is a definite surfer edge to it. If I became more of a beach-head (again), I’d probably have this on repeat as the sun hit my face and swift breeze cooled me off. For now, though, I’ll enjoy it with some drinks.
