“Empyrean” is the latest slab of dreamscape artistry we’re hearing from Brainfeeder’s Mono/Poly, who previously wowed us with “Ra Rise.” Like that track, this one also stems from his forthcoming album Golden Skies that drops Aug. 25. While “Ra Rise” was a purely instrumental affair. “Empyrean” finds the West Coast artist teaming up with a guest vocalist. In this case, it’s Mendee Ichikawa of the group Free Moral Agents, who suits the spaced-out vibes of the song perfectly. It’s only fitting, really, given the fact her time in FMA tends to reside in a world where psychedelia, hip-hop, and jazz are best friends.
