Brainfeeder-affiliated glitchy synth monster Mono/Poly took to Soundcloud this week to drop “CREW”, a huge, jarring slab of 808 kicks and thick, distorted square-wave synths. Utilizing a classic boom-bap tempo and drum pattern, dude proceeds to get really weird on it (as if we’d expect anything less) with a droning, sinister lead and some distorted vocal samples. A challenging, almost uncomfortable listen, Mono/Poly definitely received the “don’t go compromising your vision for the audience’s sake- they’re smarter than you think” memo that I’ve always imagined to be circulating around the Brainfeeder offices. This lumbering, aggressive slice of monster-movie funk stands about fifty-feet-tall and weighs several tons, so proceed with caution for sure.
