Parisian beat merchant Mister Bibal came to us this week with “Demonstration”, a cut from his F A I L U R E album, forthcoming on Trueflav Records, and it is a scorcher. Jagged, square-wave synths carve out staccato crop circles over a thick, natural boom-bap beat, and guest MC Black Spade’s flow is both confident and competent. I don’t know what they’ve been smoking in France lately, but there’s a good chance it’s not just Gauloises, because there’s a whole slew of French producers that have been absolutely slaying the beat scene lately. If the rest of F A I L U R E is anything like “Demonstration”, we can look forward to a very strong release.
