Miles Bonny and B.Lewis just dropped “Bottom To Top”, the first single from their forthcoming collaborative EP, and it’s destined to get some serious mileage here at the crib. B.Lewis’ production uses stadium-sized percussion and monstrously weighty bass, softening the edges with washed-out, reverb-drenched synths and keeping your attention with subtle, occasional glitches. Miles Bonny’s vocals, vaguely reminiscent of Cody Chestnutt but with a slightly smokier, raspier edge, kick “Bottom To Top” into full-on future-soul high gear. Taking the often harsh, coarse textures of this kind of experimental production and melding it with smooth, soulful vocals is something we’d like to see more of, and, conversely, it’s fantastic to see these neo-soul sounds get this kind of forward-thinking, ballsy production.
