The beauty of music is that there is no right or wrong way to approach it. There is no right or wrong sound. While hip hop purists argue the state of the industry, we are in a golden age. We take for granted all the quality and unique music that is released daily. The amount of genre-bending sounds that bless our ears every week is truly remarkable.
New York City to many is thought as the birthplace of modern day hip-hop and has become synonymous with the genre. People have come to expect a certain sound echoing from the City, but that is not the case in the year of 2014. Influences from all over the country eventually make their way to the streets and laptops in the city and provide for some incredible tunes. New York native MakinOut harnesses these various influences in his weirdly catchy release “Playground.” MakinOut recruits fellow New Yorker Domi for the first single off his forthcoming project YorkNew City, which is set to drop this fall. The minimalistic visual perfectly complements the simplistic yet infectious record.
