Columbus, Ohio producer Maggz had us hooked with his synth-rich amibent-smoove Soundscapes (Spring Selection) EP in May, and now we have Astral Swing— a hypnotic, gooey instrumental collaboration between Maggz and Atlanta-based beatmaker Omari T.
The icy synth sounds on Astral Swing glide around lines of crunchy percussion, inobtrusive chillout guitars, and liquified ambient loops. The project seems right at home on the block of downtempo future sounds and left-field instrumentals, which is why it’s no surprise upon visiting Omari’s Facebook page to find that he’s homies with Potholes favorite Ta-Ku or that Maggz has shared a stage with Jamaica, Queens producer Prof.Logik (both of whom produced tracks for Potholes’ lastest compilation, Cosmic Island). We like.
