Over the past few months, the music we’ve heard from Madlib has been in collaboration with rappers like Dudley Perkins, Freddie Gibbs, and MED along with alien alter-ego Quasimoto. But the die-hard Madlib fans out there no doubt remember that he’s also putting out projects in a Rock Konducta series. And in December, the world will finally hear the first Rock Konducta LP, which we’re getting a taste of here with “Black Widow”. It’s a sample-heavy, worldly affair that also featuresJ Dilla vocal samples. The sorta-kinda ad libs that you’ll hear stem from his rhymes on Jaylib classic “McNasty Filth” (and probably elsewhere because I’m slightly out of it right now).
You can hear “Black Widow” below.
Tour dates:
- Oct 29: Madlib in Budapest @ Trafó House of Contemporary Arts
- Oct 31: Madlib in Brussels @ Europalia Festival
- Nov 2: Madlib in Manchester @ Warehouse Project
- Nov 11: Madlib in Glasgow @ SWG3 Warehouse

I dug it, though it made me a little anxious (maybe the repetition).
