Everyone’s favorite rap punching bags, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, are giving you another reason to loathe their gigantic single, “Thrift Shop”. The song just broke the record for most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Billboard Rap/R&B chart. It has now sat at the top for 12 (!) weeks in a row with the previous record held by DJ Khaled’s equally ubiquitous single, “I’m On One”, with Drake, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross.
And in case you’re wondering, yes, this means “Thrift Shop” is still selling like hot cakes. It moved more than 280,000 units last week, according to Billboard.

Point being – it’s just another pop rap song – they come and go, no matter if you are black or white.

There are plenty of terrible pop rap songs out there that nobody cares about. Most people who cry about Macklemore put way too much into his race. For the last 2-3 months I’ve read way too many blogs (not saying that u guys are one of them) crying about the fact that Macklemore is white, which I find idiotic.
Point being – black or white, all these catchy pop rap songs are the same.

First off, I love this blog so much! Second, I really wish people would quit ripping on these guys. They are what they are and obviously doing something right. Why hate on them so bad. I have been listening to these guys for a while now and am really quite impressed with what they have brought to the rap/hip hop table. I can think of a few in the game that should be getting the heat from everyone…ones that are horrible influences on society and the biz in general!
