You might remember that jazz-loving hip-hop producer Trebles and Blues issued a “16 Bars Challenge” last month that asked rappers to spit their best 16 bars over his custom-made beat. And yesterday morning, he announced the winner: Lyric L. He also provided three reasons for why he chose her verse:
(a) I enjoyed the delivery of her flow; her words were clearly enunciated and emphasized in the right places.
(b) When you have 16 bars to display your lyrical talent, it is always cool to hear unique rhyming patterns, and when the message makes sense, it’s just even more cool.
(c) “We feelin’ a little invisible / The principle we hold for our team, go for our dreams”
Makes sense to me, especially after hearing her rhyme on the banger of a beat from Trebles. I mean, how could you not pick someone who drops such a dope Rugrats reference?
