As you might have heard, Lupe Fiasco dropped a new album yesterday with Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Part 1. The absurdly titled record arrived with minimal fanfare in terms of singles, except for his reasonably well-pushed collaboration with Guy Sebastian, “Battle Scars”. But that song really only seems to get a push Down Under, aka where Sebastian hails from.
It shouldn’t come as too much of a shocker to learn that Food & Liquor 2 is on pace to sell less than half of what Lasers did in its first week. Hits Daily Double reports that Lu will likely move anywhere from 85,000 to 95,000 units. Cripes. Compare that to the 204,000 copies sold of Lasers when it debuted. Maybe Lu needed another “Superstar”/”The Show Goes On” for this LP.

oh. well I think Bitch Bad could be compared to those. I dunno, maybe they seemed more promoted to me because I follow him on twitter lol
But I guess it doesnt matter though. He said this is his last album.
I meant like compared to “The Show Goes On” and “Superstar”. Both of those were massive. Those numbers are also for R&B/hip-hop only, which doesn’t necessarily mean much in terms of your album selling a ton/singles doing THAT well.

huh? he dropped 4 singles all summer: Bitch Bad, Around my Way, Lamborghini Angels, and Battle Scars. There are videos for 3 of them already.
he got plenty of promo from his twitter rants on politics and sampling Pete Rock….MONTHS before the album came out.

I didn’t even realize this shit had dropped already till I saw the reviews were out? Kinda over this dude anyway fuckit.
Disclaimer: The sales in no way reflect the quality of this album, at least in my opinion. It leaked, so a lot of people probably just downloaded it opposed to buying it. I trooped to my local mall on foot to get MY copy Tuesday though.
