Obviously, Twitter is blowing up right now in the wake of the release of Lupe Fiasco‘s latest single, “B*tch Bad”. The general consensus is that no one cares about the Chicago rapper, but I beg to differ. Somehow, someway, with one of the worst albums in Lasers behind him, he has remained in the limelight for better or for worse.
With that said, “B*tch Bad” is definitely worth the discussion. The lyrical topics are different from previous offerings, and the production is off the map as well. Honestly, I haven’t decided what I think about this track, but I am trying to take a listen from the perspective of someone who doesn’t think Fiasco is a total waste of hip-hop life. Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 is due out Sept. 25.
‘Electric Circus’ might have flopped but ‘Lasers’ is a bigger embarrassment artistically speaking. Lupe himself was disappointed in it and didn’t even support the project at first. But then it sold, so of course he was behind it.
Look, I’m a Lupe apologist sometimes, too, but dude has made all the hate come his way on his own.

Electric circus was the Lasers of its time (or common’s career), it was a huge flop when it dropped and everyone hated on it and people thought common career was as good as over. even Questlove is still embarrased of it to this day. 3 years later common hooks up with kanye west, comes back with Be, one of commons best albums.
= give Lupe a break for putting out Lasers.

Most rappers think they are the one of the greatest or the most underrated so that is nothing to get hung up on.
I agree Lasers was terrible but i dont think Lupe is a joke; he isnt Charles Hamilton. He’s just going through a bad spell atm, how many people wrote off Common after ‘Electric Circus’?
I like this song. The concept is tight and informative without being preachy. Wordplay hella tight also.
You are clearly missing the point here. He has made great music in the past, but the last few years he hasn’t put anything out of any artistic value. That isn’t coming from a “snob,” I listen to pop music, too. This is coming from someone who sees a complete egomaniac think he is god’s gift to hip-hop, all the while making a complete fool out of himself.

This joint’s aight, but these commenters are outta control. Food & Liquor 1 is solid, yeah, but the beats haven’t aged well AT ALL. Also, ‘Lasers’ was trash, get over it.
Lupe dropped two very good albums in “food & liquor” and “lasers”, the former if dropped today would probably get as much hype as kendrick and j.cole are getting. dude makes some bad choices and goes for a commercial appealing sound on the 3rd and you seem to have lost ur mind. at the very least Lupe got paid of Lasers (his highest charting album) but it also seems likes he has regretted going for that sound. dude is trying to rectify things with Food & liquor II and this song is the step in the right direction (even though it isnt amazing).
