Today has been a crazy day for new music, what with the free EP from Ski Beatz and Camp Lo, unearthed Guru freestyle, and that Oh No and DOOM single. But it’s now a touch more insane thanks to Lupe Fiasco, who just dropped the lead single off Food & Liquor II. It’s called “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)” and features the Chicago spitter getting political (of course) over a sample of Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)”. Sounds good, right? Let us know. Listen below.
Update: So apparently Pete Rock is pretty unhappy about this whole situation, mostly because the original track, “T.R.O.Y.”, was created by way of the pain he felt after the death of his close friend, Troy Dixon. Of course, most hip-hop heads know that, but apparently Lupe didnt?
No disrespect to lupe fiasco and i like him alot but TROY should be left alone. Feel so violated, the beat is next to my heart and was made
