Despite the fact he’s clearly tinkering with electronics to build his tracks, producer Lost Twin works with sounds to the point that they come across as organic. They’re lush, dreamscape-like works outfitted with understated melodies and, in some cases, complementary vocalists who add depth to the already-rich instrumental.
That much is true on “Ego Hunter,” a highlight from the Brighton-by-way-of-Seville artist that we’re proud to premiere today. Lost Twin gets an assist from singer Nimio on this middle-of-the-night cut, which stems from his upcoming album, The Mist. “Ego Hunter” slinks by without care, casually inviting you into its mesmerizing layers of synthesizers and percussion. It’s like being lost in a gigantic forest filled with the greenest, dewiest vegetation—and not giving a damn about getting out.
Now, I’m not necessarily saying you should put yourself in that situation while listening to this track from The Mist, which drops Nov. 10 on Squaring the Circle, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you did. You can hear “Ego Hunter” below.
