It has been so long that I nearly forgot, but I was recently reminded of Captain Planet’s killer video we premiered “Secret Recipe Revealed!” thanks to the folks over at Bastard Jazz. The song was brilliantly sample-driven and even came with a quirky little stop-motion video. Today, we are getting reacquainted with the talented producer by way of his Mystery Trip Vol. 1 digi-mix as part of the official release of the special edition cassette bearing the same name. The mix draws inspiration from Madlib’s Medicine Show series, pulling rare vinyl from all over the world and placing them strategically into one mix with unique chops and production.

The best part about this project is the format in which you can purchase it. Yes, a cassette is sick, but you can also get a limited edition portable cassette player along with it for $60.
