California’s resident weirdo Speak has been fairly quiet as of late after storming on the scene with his sporadic flow, relatable lyrics and homeless looks. Speak looks like the Mexican Jesus. He cannot turn water into tequila nor can he create tacos out of thin air but he sure can rhyme with the best of them. His lack of caring makes him a true artist. He is not influenced by critics or trends like so many of his contemporaries. Speak simply makes music that he enjoys and that resonates with his budding fan base.
He once again links up with fellow Californian Caleb Stone for the sequel to their Sex Quest EP. The quick-strike six-track offering allows both Speak and Stone to show off their respective crafts. Speak effortlessly glides through the varying production and we are left with a cohesive piece that makes it evident that these two work quite well together.
The duo have a downtown studio which has become a hub for creation. Locals and out-of-towners come in droves to take advantage of the creative freedom that is offered. The EP features an eclectic cast of characters in Lofty 305, the saddest rapper of all time in Little Pain, Awful Records upstart Lord Narf and several others. “Life to me is just weed and tweak, and the girls fuck witcha when your name is Speak!” You can purchase the project here and stream it below.
