SelfSays is definitely one of those rappers that I can’t exactly pinpoint. The Michigan MC has a way of disarming the listener with intricate rhyme patterns and a flow that fits nicely within the crevices of the beat, but never overwhelms. The beats throughout Sleeves are definitely next level and provide a nice bed for SelfSays to flex his lyrical skills. However, I still couldn’t find a good comparison for him, which maybe a good thing. In an industry where rappers are constantly biting, it’s refreshing to be surprised by a rapper.
With quirky beats and left-field rhymes, SelfSays definitely cuts through the end of the year static with Sleeves. If you’re interested in listening, peep the EP below.
