If you’re like me, Lupe Fiasco was an important part of your music collection as a child. “Kick, Push” from Lupe’s debut album Food & Liquor is one of those songs I used to play with my friends all the time. I wasn’t much of a skater because I have no sense of balance and just don’t do well with four wheels under me, but I always loved that track for it’s cool vibes and Lupe’s skillful rhymes. Today, Maryland producer Kojo gives it a smooth refix, and adds some soothing sounds behind Lupe’s descriptive verses. The upbeat drum pattern meshes really well with the horn solos and Rhodes in the background, giving this joint a really airy, buttery-smooth feel.
