It’s been a little over two years since the release of Jamie Lidell‘s self-titled album. He’s back with a brand new song titled “Believe In Me”. The almost acoustic, stripped down, and personal feel of this ballad is reminiscent of his standout, “Game of Fools” off his album Multiply. “It’s an honest admission of self doubt,” says Lidell about the track, promising more music later this year. “I even feel vulnerable releasing this song which is why I know it’s important.”
Jamie Lidell has always been something of a musical chameleon; from the soul/pop feel on JIM, to the electronic/80’s vibe on his last album. Not to mention all the experimentation on Multiply. But when he makes personal music like this, he’s definitely at his best artistically. That falsetto is undeniable. “Believe In Me” is the first solo track Lidell has shared since leaving Warp Records. More new music is promised later this year.
