When Chi-Town native Lil Bibby bolted onto the radars of rap fans, blogs and major publications with the 2013 release of his soulful, sweat-and-tears single “Water”, a hip-hop takeover seemed imminent. Chicago had already laid claim to the title of rising rap capital of the world, and Bibby’s breakthrough song signaled the continuing flow of a wide river of talent.
Since then, the young artist attained a coveted spot onĀ XXL Magazine‘s Freshman list, among other achievements and accolades; however, we’ve found ourselves wishing for more material on par with the quality of the record that largely rewarded him recognition to begin with.
Earlier this evening, Bibby broke news of Free Crack 2, his forthcoming project and the aptly titled followup to his 2013 mixtape of the same, albeit numberless name. The project’s artwork accompanied the tweeted update, and once more leaves room for improvement. Hopefully the music matches Bibby’s capabilities.
