Lazerbeak – “Salt and Sea”

I know that plenty of people (myself included) have been fans of this collective for years. But it seems like everyone else in the world is finally catching on to the dopeness that is Doomtree as of late. P.O.S.’s Never Better was on a majority of best-of lists for 2009 and his cohort, Dessa, might find the same fate with her 2010 effort, A Badly Broken Code. And now, Lazerbeak is up to bat with his proper solo debut, Legend Recognize Legend. The first leak, “Salt and Sea”, has me excited to listen to the rest of the album, if only to hear just how crazy he decides to get on the production tip as I’m loving the beat on here. He’s no slouch as a vocalist either, as made evident on this track.

“Salt and Sea” can be streamed below or download after the jump.

    Doomtree!

I’m not sure what to make of the singing (could never really get into his band ‘Plastic Constellations’), but anything featuring the production of Lazerbeak is sure to get my attention.

And the whole collective just announced their first headlining national tour:

Crazy to see the success this group has achieved since i saw them playing to 15 person crowds in ’04 in Minneapolis .. certainly deserving!
