We were sitting around at a work meeting talking about the upcoming WYRD fest in MTL this weekend (curated by the righteous off-kilter Canadian music blog Weird Canada) when Tobias Rochman, a writer/musician dude, brought up Lantern. He was unraveling this convoluted story about how he had written a post on this Philadelphia/Canada trio for WC but had also published an interview with them elsewhere. Tobias insisted there was some sort of serendipitous end to the story, and then we all shared a brief discussion of a taco truck which has no particular relevance here (unless you will be in MTL on June 20 and love tacos and music, in which case you should go to this).
I guess what I’m saying, is simply that we have he and his rambling to thank for the sticky tip on Lantern’s fuzzed out lo-fi psych garage punk that feels designed for an ozone-less summer. Go on, try it. You are yearning for ways to make inevitable skin melting feel like the best of mescaline trips.
Stream “Stranger I Come. Stranger I Leave.” below and download after the skip. Also head to their bandcamp for more goodies.
