KVZE – Keep One [EP]

Richmond, Va. rising star KVZE is back this month with new instrumental EP Keep One, and it demonstrates that it’s no fluke that he just might be your favorite new producer’s favorite new producer. Expertly placing beautifully tweaked soul vocals between thunderous kicks on “Electrolytes”, and warming the whole experience with some vintage strings, dude’s clearly onto something in the studio. Multiply that by the artfully chopped samples and neck-snapping slap bass on “Surreal” and you’ll start to see shades of another of our favorite hyper-prolific producers with a phonetically impossible name.

Keep One definitely keeps it dusty, alternately culling older-than-dirt jazz and soul records for samples and expertly treating newer sounds for that effect, and KVZE’s production suits that late-night post-party vibe well.
