Kouta – Orinda [EP]

The latest mini-gem to find its way onto our music radar comes from Kouta. He’s a 22-year-old musician who, after living for many years in Hawaii, now resides in Orinda, Calif. He moved there a year ago to pursue a career as an artist and began making music with computers after playing in many bands as a bassist. The switch to experimental and electronic music appears to have been a wise one. His latest project, the Orinda EP, is an absolutely gorgeous affair that features low-lying, subtle vocals from Justin Potter. It’s highly reminiscent of the, well, prettier tunes we have posted over the past few weeks, such as Evenings and Two Bicycles. And if those beautiful minimalist works were your thing, you need to hear this EP.
