Kendrick Lamar, Black Hippy Signs Deals With Interscope & Aftermath

With rumors floating in the air for nearly a year now, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and the rest of Top Dawg Entertainment have inked a deal with Interscope and Aftermath to bring you releases in the near future. While it isn’t clear how much creative control Interscope and Aftermath will have, they will indeed be distributing forthcoming projects. It also looks like there will be a slight segregation between Kendrick Lamar and the rest of the Black Hippy movement, as Kendrick’s releases will be Top Dawg Entertainment/Interscope Records/Aftermath Entertainment, and the rest of the gang will be Top Dawg/Interscope. My fingers are crossed for the crew, as I hope they don’t go “pop,” but it looks like these guys are going to stay true to the grind and continue to produce top-notch hip-hop. Only this time, it will be on a much larger scale.
