Last year, we became better acquainted with Toronto-based rapper Eternia when she dropped her collaborative album with MoSS, At Last. We then learned even more when she spoke with Potholes’ own Zach Cole. And wouldn’t you know it, she’s not the only artist in her family. Her sister, Jessica Kaya, is a talented vocalist and songwriter. And she recently slapped together an EP of, in her words, “raw, unmixed demos & draft songs, recorded at home and released in their unfinished & imperfect form.” And wow, if she considers Imperfections her rough drafts, I can’t wait to hear whatever she’s got in store for her proper debut. Each track on here boasts a different vibe and style, all of which she nails. From the balladry of “Heavy Heart” to the smoky jazz of “Lovelife (Don’t Ask Me Why)”, Imperfections is a stunning listen.
Stream “Why Don’t We” — my personal favorite below — and hit the skip to download the EP.
