It’s interesting to me to hear a dude like longtime go-to drummer Karriem Riggins transition so easily into chopping up samples. But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised; classic chops can often translate into other skills within your profession. But damn, Riggins isn’t just like skilled, you know? Everything we’ve heard from his new Alone Together album has been fantastic, including the latest single, “Matador”. The drums? The chopping? The Dilla homage at the end? Brilliant.
