To say I’ve been underwhelmed by the recent wave of female rappers would be an understatement. The likes of Iggy Banks (that’s one person, right?) and she-who-does-not-deserve-to-be-named, I was giving up hope that anything new would join the likes of Jean Grae and Ms. Hill as part of the female rap brigade in my iTunes. That was until I stumbled upon the latest single “West Ghost” from K.Flay, where she blacked out on the beat for a head-nodding affair. While I’m not anywhere near ready to put K.Flay among the female rap Mt. Rushmore, she just made her upcoming West Ghost mixtape a very anticipated project.
