K-Def – “Times Change”

This is what I get excited about. This is old school hip-hop, today. We could debate all day about what “real” hip-hop is, but listen to K-Def’s “Times Change” and there’s no doubt this is the argument used to trash artists like Lil B and Waka Flocka. The UK producer has worked with Ghostface Killah on The Pretty Toney Album and has ’90s credibility producing alongside Marley Marl and the Lords of the Underground. “Times Change” is a hell of a reminder that times change. Wasn’t too long ago people were bumpin’ “Disco Inferno” on the radio. I was mouthing off in class, “Will the real Seth Lopez please stand up! Please stand up!” And I thought I was cool.  This track has lush guitar samples, bass lines that tingle the spine and you’ll look like one of those dippy birds bobbing your head to the drum kicks.  Bust out your turntables for his Aug. 9 single “For Def’s Sake”. Should bring you back to the golden age. [via]
