JMSN & Ab-Soul – “You’re Gone” (IAMNOBODI Remix)

First things first, I need to make this clear: I’m not really sure what the hell is going on in JMSN and Ab-Soul‘s “You’re Gone” single. By all accounts, it’s an excellently produced track with a catchy-ass hook and clever rhymes from the TDE rapper. But are they too clever? I don’t know. Since the song dropped back in January I’ve taken issue with the fact it sounds incredibly date rape-y when Soulo raps, “And since you been good I slipped a present in that drink you drinking.”

This, of course, could be a reference to a roofie-like substance associated with date rape, which I will not condone in any way. But I’ve also read that he could be pouring something into the drink to make it like the lean Soulo seems to enjoy so much. Or maybe it’s all a satire meant to make people uncomfortable.

Whatever the case, it’s impossible for me to deny the fact that German producer IAMNOBODI did the damn thing on his remix of “You’re Gone”. The vibe he creates with his woozy instrumental suits the vocals perfectly and it almost makes you think that this is the actual version. That’s no shot at the original or anything, I just really like what IAMNOBODI did here.
