Jean P – “Shining Bright (LCP Redux)” P. J. Rawls

Ohio stand up! Jean P is from the land of the football Hall of Fame and he’s just linked up with a HOF-type producer, J. Rawls. A Columbus native, Rawls has worked with Masta Ace, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Casual of the Hieroglyphics and is an Ohio hip-hop legend. And, he’s just signed the buzzing duo and Potholes favorites, LAKIM and Jean P who’re currently working on another collaborative LP.

So, J. Rawls, as a present of sorts to the new signees, does a “redux”, remix, rework…whatever you want to call it…and turns Jean P and Lakim’s “Shining Bright” into a jazzy, (I hate to say it, but,) old school, Golden Era-styled record. It’s a track that really lets Jean P’s lyrical content shine. You’ll definitely want to give this one a spin.
