Jean Grae, along with 9th Wonder, surprised us all and angered many, when they worked with the Based God Lil B. Which, seriously, wasn’t that bad. She’s working on a much sweeter project this time around. Cookies or Comas, a mix hosted by DJ Drama that features Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, Styles P and Royce Da 5′ 9″. “Casebasket“, the street album’s first leak, is certainly a nod to her fantastic microphone skills as she’s slipping verses over a cracking, drum-laden production. Ski Beatz, Boogie Blind and many more are responsible for producing the mix, so, the whole album bangs. Cookies or Comas is both a fantastic release and question, “Do you like sugar in your music or something that’ll knock you out?” I think I’ll have both, thanks Ms. Grae.
