Next Thursday, June 23, Jean Grae is set to release her latest free mix-CD Cookies and Comas–hosted by DJ Drama and featuring collaborations with Blacksmith label mate Talib Kweli as well as Styles P, Pharoahe Monch, & Royce Da 5’9” (see “Assassins” for a Grae, Monch, and Royce collab. from Monch’s latest record W.A.R.).
“Casebasket” is the first track to leak from the mix and it’s produced by X-Ecutioners member and world renowned turntablist Boogie Blind, who brings Roots-style beats and smooth Rhodes motifs that perfectly complement Grae’s distinctive voice and jazzy flow.
