What happens when you cover Top 40 hits in haze, fog, and then drown them until they’re reborn as something new? You get Jealov’s Translations EP, of course! OK, that was a little much, but the Belgium resident’s reinterpretations of cuts like Jay-Z‘s “99 Problems” and Sean Paul’s “Temperature” are ethereal, lush journeys into the deep. Also, you know, the mysterious producer makes “Temperature” listenable outside of being in a drunken stupor at a bar or club. No easy feat.
Hit the skip to stream and download the EP. It’s a precursor of sorts to Jealov’s Framework project, which drops later this year.
