Jay Electronica dropped a new joint earlier today. This would be the third track he’s leaked in less than month so I’m not complaining. “Jazzmatazz” is a tribute song to the legendary Guru (Gang Starr) who passed away earlier this year after a long bout with cancer. After the initial MLK speech, Jay summarizes Guru’s journey in hip-hop in two dope verses. The beat is the intro to Group Home’s classic album Livin’ Proof. Lyrically Jay is a cross between a shaman and the Oracle from the “Matrix”. Its all very layered and forces you to pay attention which is always appreciated. I almost don’t care if Jay drops an album anymore. As long as he keeps letting these mp3’s loose every now and then, I’m good.
