James Blake – “CMYK” (Live Performance)

When I initially purchased tickets to see James Blake early this summer my only apprehension was how his layered, computerized, minimal songs would translate to a live performance. My expectations were not met, but exceeded. However, I didn’t get to hear my favorite song from the UK producer, “CMYK”. Much to everyone’s excitement at Pitchfork Music Festival a few weeks back, Blake performed a drum-heavy live version of the track, with his own vocals thrown in the mix. Not only did it sound great, but it even got the relatively mellow Pitchfork crowd to unfold their arms and jump around a little bit.
