Stones Throw is always dropping all sorts of awesome releases and reissues. Just recently they reissued the 2008 Hella International boxset, and they are giving out this Madlib remix of J Dilla’s “The $” because it sold out so quickly. I don’t know about you, but just about any song in the history of music that has been released with J Dilla and Madlib’s name both on it has been absolute gold. Many of you diehards have probably heard it already, but for all others out there, get familiar! The original version of “The $” comes from Ruff Draft, of course.
Which brings me to my next topic, Madlib. Is it just me, or has this guy fallen off a bit as of late. Sure, all you Madlib Stans claim these Madlib Medicine Shows are brilliant, but unlike you, I am not willing to wait until after the release of Madlib Medicine Show #432: Ice Cream Truck Music to start hearing some quality Madlib production again.

nahh lads madlib is just trying new things… its how artists grow and obviously there will be mixed responses, call it naive but i doubt he’d allow ST to release something he didnt like. im not seeing anything lucrative.
Medicine Show is just a marketing scheme to saturate the industry with Madlib’s music knowing damn well die hard fans will end up paying for it. Another case of Stones Throw milking their artist like they have in the past with Dilla and his unfinished/unreleased work. *sigh
those stans are a bunch of chads if you ask me.
Guess it’s a pretty lonely planet then, seriously though that’s why parents should never name their kid stan
I’ve found that stans, no matter who the artist, end up killing themselves.
I’ve found that madlib stans are much more intelligent people than dilla stans
I know it seems contradictory, but he was saying any track with BOTH Dilla and Lib’s name on it….and he is admittedly being kind of a prick, haha.
Madlib Medicine Show #3 (Beat Konducta in Africa) was on par with the best stuff he’s done. Even you yourself contradict what you say in the second paragraph with what you say in the first.
